The White Hart - Roydon, Norfolk

A new Owner's journey in creating a profitable and successful pub.

Our friends at the White Hart had opened the doors of their Freehouse Pub / Restaurant in Jan 16 and decided to keep the existing suppliers in place whilst they got to grips with the day to day running and settled in to the new management routines.  Once they settled into the business they decided to look at the purchasing and found that they faced 4 main issues:

The problems faced by our client

Meat

They had discovered that the incumbent Butcher was unreliable with quality and was pushing through price increases without proper communication.

Bar

The bar required a revamp and although they had received a few tenders from some brewers they required some advice and guidance to navigate the tricky and often long winded process of beer quotes.

Wine

This required a fresh look and consideration to bring into line with current trends.

Non Food

The cleaning and nonfood sundries had never really been looked at, and they were interested to see if we could offer any savings.

How we solved these problems

Meat

We presented them with a fantastic offering provided by Holdsworth Food-service's Butchery division, arranged FOC samples, and upon being extremely impressed with the quality decided to swap their supply.  Holdsworth are a nationally renowned independent food service with a rich trading history of 48 years.  They always put the customer first and often take a hit to their margin instead of pushing on increases to their customers.

Bar

We helped John at the White Hart strip apart the Beer tenders he had received and presented him with the facts.  We also presented him a tender from one of our own suppliers as an alternative solution.  When you work with Regency, although obviously we'd prefer you to work with one of our suppliers (because we know they're the best), you're still free to work with whoever you choose.  We will never pressure you into making any decisions, simply present you with the facts how they are, and let you decide what's best for you and your business.  We're glad to report that after lots of analysis and discussions John decided to go with Molson Coors, one of Regency's nominated Beer suppliers, and we think they made a great choice!

Wine

Again through Molson Coors a fantastic fresh range of current and exciting wines were selected and we also organized the design and printing of some new Wine Menus to complement the new selection.

Non Food

We invited DCS to tender for the Non-Food who absolutely smashed the existing pricing and provided a range of quality products with which they are very happy with.

We were amazed at the savings Regency secured for us on the drink (bar), food, and non food. Regency have a great range of suppliers and are forever driving prices down for us and adding value to our business. Their support has been first class.

We're thrilled to have had such a positive impact on our client's business.  And whats more, these savings aren't just for the first year, they will remain for year on year.  We contract all our suppliers to price hold for at least 6 months and always challenge and push back any supplier price increases which are over and above the market rate.
